Kraze (2010) - Every PC F1 Game
Kraze by 7Seas Entertainment/Candella, 2010.
Proudly marketed as "India's first PC multi-genre racing game", this game came with various disciplines, including off-road, rally, F1 and street racing. It was also subtitled either "The Ultimate Race" or "The Ultimate Racer"... but it's not really!
The game is a bit of a disaster, with slow, jerky graphics (maximum resolution is 1280x960), poor sound, handling that either spins you out or crunches the car on the ground when you touch the steering (or brakes), oh, and if you flip the car, the game crashes!
It's sort of like playing an old, fairly broken, mobile racing game.
Each racing series has just 2 tracks, one where you do a timed lap, and one where you race against other cars. But it's all pretty boring (apart from trying not to steer too much or you spin/crash).
The F1 tracks fictional and pretty bland (called Kingsland and, bizarrely, Dave Stadium!).
Let's take a look. The track names were what I was trying to compare to:
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 Here's the race start on the Dave Stadium track, with other cars. It's rather nerve-wracking, trying not to spin or crash, and the car clatters along the ground when you steer. The engine sound cutting out is another "feature" of this title! The computer-controlled cars enjoy driving on the gravel/mud.
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:33 There's no rain in the game, and no TV/replay camera view, so I'm showing the opening pan around the car on the Kingsland track, so you can see how the car looks from all angles...
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:47 There's no tunnel on either of the two tracks available. Here's some (cautiously driven) corners at Kingsland. Notice how many people there are in the grandstands!
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:07 Again there's no rain, but here's some of the second track in the game. The car here is travelling at maximum speed, which is honestly rather boring! This is at Dave Stadium again.
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:32 Only Dave Stadium has a useable pitlane. But nothing happens in it, obviously, as there's no car damage!
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:46 Crashes are pretty bland too, but her, at Dave Stadium, I manage to get on top of a rival car, which is something, I suppose! You can see how the drivers seem to be half out of the car!
