Flatout 3 - Chaos & Destruction by Team 6 Studios/Strategy First, 2011.

Ah, the much derided Flatout 3. Much has been said about Team 6 (briefly) taking over this franchise, and pushing out a lightweight, flimsy, poorly-coded shadow of the previous games that BugBear developed. But I'm not here to debate that, I'm here to look at the F1 car in the game!

Yes, they added a "Speed Mode" with circuits more like F1 tracks. It also answers the question: "what would the Nurburgring GP track be like if it looked like the Nordschleife and was partially destroyed by active volcanoes?" But more on that gem in a moment...

The tracks listed below were what I'm aiming for, but as the game consists of fantasy tracks, some of these aren't very close!

1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 Launching with a nice big blast of nitro, you can see the rival cars are a mix of open-wheel types, including ones based on the Caparo T1 track day car and other body shapes. But some (like mine) are pure F1! Enjoy the heavy bloom... and a car that tops out at 130mph-ish!

2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:23 This is a night time Kazakhstan-based track. There's no rain here, just gloom! Strangely, my car has headlights... the TV camera option is fairly undocumented and just consists of camera flips.

3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:39 There's no tunnel here, but a few skyscrapers, if that counts?!

4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 0:50 Here we go, the Nurburgring vs volcanoes! If nothing else in this game is memorable, then this is at least!

5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:06 Pitlanes don't do anything really. Although I spilled a couple of barbeques...

6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:18 Back to the incredible take on the Nurburgring for some true chaos! I missed the giant volcano hole in the opening gravel trap (for some reason they're using the old circuit layout without the opening tight sweeping corners). Eventually there's a giant pile-up, as the computer-controlled cars fail to get around the bend!
