Short but sweet, this Formula 1 racer from Sega is quite a surprise. Despite clearly being a coin-op game, it's got more of a simulation vibe than some of its peers, including Sega's own Super Monaco GP, with more realistic handling than I had expected. The game carries real Formula 1 racing teams and cars, such as Lotus and Williams, and the tracks feature hoardings and billboards baring advertising for the likes of Shell, Elf and Goodyear.

The game is a sequel/follow-up to F1 Exhaust Note, released in 1991, but is still built on Sega's System 32 hardware. Despite being very much a game based on 2D sprite scaling technology, but the visuals are strangely similar to F1 simulator games found on PC and computer formats, looking almost like early texture-mapped 3D.

As with other Sega games at the time, the real arcade cabinet was a dual cockpit arrangement, allowing two players to compete against each other and CPU opponents in a high-octane F1 race.
