Face Behind the Let's Plays: Please Respect how I Play Games
I get a wide mix of criticism and anger when I ban/block people who 'spoil' or 'give tips' in a game. Please understand it doesn't come from me being rage mode pissed. I do also understand that these people are simply trying to help.
However, I did grow up in a generation where problem solving in video games was its own reward. There is something so satisfying about struggling through a game until you finally start to make connections and get it. That's where my passion in commentating comes from. That's where my passion in gaming comes from. When someone 'tells me what to do' it puts me in a bind. I now have forever lost that discovery. I now have forever lost the chance to learn that on my own. I could spite that person and purposely not do it, but then it basically spites myself. I can do what that person says, but now the reward seems shallow because I didn't figure it out.
Ultimately, this only goes out to a small minority of people. Most of you are awesome about this. I would just ask though, please respect how I play games. I know it can be painful when you see my struggling, but trust me when I say that's what I LOVE in games. I love being challenged and overcoming it.
If I can't...also remember that I'm a computer guy :) I have more than enough resources to solve the problem if I'm truly stuck.
So folks, thank you for all the support, friendly words, and constructive criticism over the years. Cheers to you all.
