FACEBOOK LAUNCHES GAMES PUBLISHING PROGRAM (Escapist News Now)

Social media giant Facebook has decided to expand it's digital games distribution platform.

According to Gamasutra, Facebook recruited Dan Morris, formerly of EA, who said, "It's one more way for Facebook to create a path to success."

Right now Facebook, along with many other publishers, believe that one of the biggest hurdles facing mobile games developers is discoverability, and this new program will focus on promotion and finding audiences.

Eight games will be in the pilot program including well known mobile publisher Gameloft's Kingdoms & Lords. But the goal is to work with, "smaller and medium sized developers," that are, "not necessarily very well established."

Developers will be able to take part in a revenue share agreement, and It is worth noting Facebook will not be financing any games or taking an active role in development.
