Factorio 0.16 Let's Play #23 - Setting up nuclear power
In this episode, I set up the beginnings of a nuclear power plant, using two reactors. The design I'm using is expandable to 10 reactors. A link to the blueprint book is below.
I was puzzled by the fact that coal-powered steam generation didn't go to zero when the reactors came online. I was expecting nuclear power to take priority, but I suppose that nuclear generates power through steam as well, and it seems that the game gives them equal priority. So, I'll rig up a power switch to disconnect the coal power plant when it's not needed.
This is a let's play series for Factorio 0.16. The goal will be to build a megabase that supports a high level of science pack production. We may use some end-game mods to make things more interesting. I set up the map with Railworld settings, Very Good richness, and Small size for trees.
