Faith (My Ford Focus)
1Before I was a vehicle owner I never understood why people were so passionate about their car brand. I thought cars came with a engine, seats, and tires. Of course some cars would go faster than others, but I never understood that what makes a car great, is its character.
I got a new-to-me 2002 Ford Focus, which I have named Faith. Faith has earned her name by being super reliable, fun to drive, and all around awesome. I would not hesitate to make a roughly 1200 Km round trip from my home town of Stratford, ON to Ottawa. While all my freinds and family's cars (Mazdas, Chryslers, Chevrolets, even Land-rovers) that are roughly the same age, are on their last legs, or being traded in, my Ford has gone above and beyond in its performance and reliability. This is important to me, because I tend to do a fair amount of driving for job. Having a car that is consistently in the shop, would not be acceptable when I have to be on a job site.
I often brag about my car, and the modifications I have made (automatic starter, rain guards, trailer hitch, etc.) However, sadly every great story must come to an end, and I fear that I may only get another year or three out of my car.
Also I don't own the rights to this wicked song... it's 'I'm a highway star' by deep purple. Which my car actually played when I was driving out of a dealership after test driving some newer cars.
This Focus year and model gets a 8 outta 10, It's fun to drive, good on gas, and very reliable. I'm sure it could drive forever. Sure things have broken on it, and I wouldn't fix non-essential things like the a/c. To be honest it better to drive in the heat with the windows down. there is nothing better than a hot mess riding shotgun (to be honest guys just tell your dates that your a/c is broken, its a good way to shed some layers)
The down side, rear passenger leg room wasn't premium, and supposedly it has about 130 horse power. However, I doubt I could beat 1 horse in a race let alone 130.
