'fallback' mode on 3rd party gamepads for PS1 games that don't support dual analog sticks...
When the original PlayStation launched in 1994, it's standard gamepad was little more than the 16bit Nintendo pad with an extra set of shoulder keys.
then in 1996, Nintendo amped up the nexgen controller game with its tripronged joypad featuring a fully analogue thumbstick as standard.
So then in mid 1997, Sony countered this with their dual analogue pad, featuring two such sticks... problem is, games had to be written to use the sticks, thus early games released before 1997 could not be used with them.
Not long however did 3rd party brands devise their own solution to fix this issue: when you turn off the sticks for early games, the left stick acts as the D-pad and the directions of the right stick act as the 4 face buttons... let's see them in action!
