3Today on Fallout 4 Mod Playthroughs we look at BEAT THE DEVIL's TATTOO by Jesiotr-Borsuk. Beat the Devil's Tattoo is a note quest mod starting in Fallout 4's sanctuary settlement. With sanctuary being the first place you discover, this mod is integrated very well, as it can just be stumbled upon. The mod itself adds 8 weapons, 2 armour pieces, one God item, 3 unique NPC's and a player home. So there are plenty of things to get your teeth stuck into!
Overall I think the mod is really well done considering the mod author states that they were just learning how to use the creation kit. The custom locations (particularly the starting makeshift shelter) fit in very well and match the Devil theme of the mod. For those of your who aren't fans of note quests this isn't for you, there are a few notes, but nothing too overwhelming. However, as the mod author's native language isn't English, there are a fair few of grammatical errors, and can make the clues a little cryptic. But these are only minor errors as the rest of the mod is done really well. I personally got stuck a little bit as there's no quest makers and some of the terminal entries could be a little less vague.
There are a few screenshots on the mod page to help you if you get stuck, but I think a walkthrough would be nice. The NPC's themselves are well balanced (but I did have a damage modifier on of x3 damage), so I think some of the boss enemies would have been a tough challenge if I didn't have the modifier on. The Hell dungeon itself is very well done, it is a new world space. It's simple yet interesting with floating walkways and large drops. The environment and LOD are quite minimal but it fits the Hell theme. Other than that I had a few crashes when trying to enter the dungeon and when I died in there (but this could be a fault my end). Fantastic first mod!!!
