Welcome to the first video in my Fallout 4 survival playthrough. As this mode will bring all kinds of new challenges to the game i thought i'd start a fresh character. So join Chunk Norris on his quest in this post-apocalyptic waste land.
✦✦ About this playthrough: i'm playing with no commentary and no edits. I'll probably try sticking to the main story line but i do love a side quest and they may well be good for leveling up my character. I also like to scavenge a bit so expect some of that.
Remember - this is SURVIVAL! I will be playing cautiously so don't expect too much in the way of heroics.
I also favour power armour so i'll be in that most of the time.
✦✦ My play style: almost exclusively 1st person, i don't use VATS (except as a spotting mechanic), i mainly use guns, but i may take the occasional melee weapon along with me and i expect as this is survival i'll be faffing around a lot in the Pip-Boy but i'll try not to ;)

To access the beta, owners of Fallout 4 on PC can right-click on the game in their Steam library and find the update under the settings option. Bethesda explains the download process - and what the update includes - on its community forum.
Among the features added to the new Survival difficulty level include a variety of challenges, which Bethesda details on its website. These include more limited save options - players can now only save by sleeping - disabled fast travel, "increased lethality" (players both deal and take more damage) and fatigue. There's also a new perk, Adrenaline, which increases with each kill and adds bonus damage to attacks.
Other changes coming to Survival Mode include new illnesses, decreased effects of restorative items and new limitations on the amount you can carry. All of the new features are detailed in full by the publisher on its website.
