Hi guys,

So in today’s we are going to be taking a look at all of the new details and content we have received from the Fallout Miami Summer Progress Update.

For any of you who don’t know, Fallout: Miami is a huge upcoming DLC-sized mod for Fallout 4. It’s set in what they are calling the Vacation Wasteland and the story focusing on the struggle between order and freedom. The mod will add a large new world space filled with new creatures, factions, weapons, gadgets and more. As with all projects of this size, the team has been working on this for at least one year.

Right so in the Summer Progress Update for this mod, the team highlighted a number of things, but mainly showcased a lot of concept art. Therefore we’re going to start off by having a look at some of the creature concept art.

This first one is a horrifically mutated Flamingo which they have cleverly named the Mingo. So as you can see from this image they’ve gone for kind of a ghoul flamingo, with all the boils, red skin and lack of feathers. I think these look great and are a good concept to introduce animals typically found in Miami and give them a Fallout twist. Also from this artwork it looks like there will be variations of this creature.

The second bit of creature concept art they shared with us was of the infamous Gecko. Now as you can see form these screenshots there is a large difference between these and what we would see in New Vegas. This is because the dev team have said that they wanted to stick with Fallout 4’s more realistic take on the Wasteland creatures and therefore have applied this to the Gecko’s. So they now look more like their real life counterparts but will still be a threat to the player. As with the Mingo’s there are a number of Gecko variations - these include young Geckos that won’t pose much threat to the player up to the Poison & Elder Geckos that a force to be reckoned with. My initial reaction wasn’t as positive as it is now, something about seeing the Geckos in a more realistic light just seemed wrong at first. But when you compare these to the original gecko design you realise how comical they actually look. It’s nice to see the modders are putting their own twist on the creatures.

So that was all they had to say about creatures. We then got a new segment of music that will be in the game. As with most other mods of this scale the Fallout: Miami team are creating their on atmospheric music from scratch. This is a piece called Daydreaming at Night and will be in the background as you explore. Here is an extract from it, if you want to listen to the rest, the link is in the description...
