The way I finished Rose's companion quest was because I don't believe I have the lockpick and definitely not the sneak to do it the nicer way. Sure, I could have waited and leveled those up more but I'm not sure I'm interested in devoting anything to sneak. Doing it the way I did hurts my NCR rep but not irreparably. In fact, before hitting the strip you can make the NCR or Legion hate you and get a chance to reset it.



The Contreras mission is very buggy. If you're wondering why I killed him and then turned him in it's because completing it for him didn't give me This Machine because it's bugged, I could have just turned him in but killing him has no karma penalty, no NCR rep loss and you get back items you sold to him prior.



Also, you can see that there are other buggy missions in Camp McCarran, like how retrieving Morale's body doesn't even give you rep, never mind experience or a reward of some sort. Also does nothing to help out the one dude with the food besides I think make his menu better? Basically it's weird calling this a guide when so much of it isn't necessarily what you'd want to do but it's good to see the problems the game has as well.



To be clear, doing the non-violent version of Cass' quest still turns the Van Graffs hostile to you afterwards but not the Crimson Caravan Company. It's no big deal because literally no one cares if you kill the Van Graffs and then you can loot them with no karma loss.
