Fallout New Vegas Primm My Kind of Town part 4 of 7 Bison Steve and Beagle
As you approach Primm, you'll be flagged down by a NCR trooper. He'll explain that former NCR convicts have taken over Primm.
Trouble is that you need the Primm deputy sheriff to inform you where your would-be murderer is.
To start with, cross the bridge at the south-west end of the NCR to enter Primm. You will most likely be attacked by up to 3 or 5 convicts who hear you come running. Once you are relatively safe, enter the Mojave Express office on your right as you go east down Primm's main street.
If you have 55 Science and 35 Repair, or 3 scrap metals, scrap electronics, and 2 sensor modules, you can activate the companion ED-E.
Unlike most Fallout 3 companions, New Vegas companions are very powerful and are immortal unless you are in hardcore mode.
With your new friend. follow your quest marker into the Vikki and Vance casino to find Primm survivors.
Johnathan Nash will inform you that the Deputy will know your attackers next stop.
While you are in the casino, you may want to interact with the plaque near the car on display. Speak with the robot Primm Slim and, with 50 Science, get him to tell you the location of Vance's Gun. The gun is all the way near New Vegas, so more on it later.
John's wife Ruby can make a wholesome casserole for each scorpion gland you give her.
With your quest marker set to Deputy Beagle, thanks to Johnny, head to the Bison Steve.
Snipe the first convict you see or let ED-E handle him. In the entrance room, pick the locked door on the right or hack the nearby terminal. In the room, you will find a maintenance key on the table and a average lock safe.
Go further into Bison Steve. In the first room on your left, the one with many display cases, look behind the counter for a Tales of a Junkttown vendor on top of a safe. The safe itself is a hard lockpick which grants the unique gun Lucky.
In the large open room with the elevators, look for a small table with a Sunset Sarsaparilla bottle on it. Next to the bottle is a star cap.
The last bit of the Bison Steve lets you either tackle a pack of 3-4 convicts head on or, with the Maintenance key, sneak behind them to safely extract Beagle.
The backdoor to the kitchen is just a little bit to the right off the star cap you found. There may be one convict patrolling. Kill him with a sneak attack if you can.
Move down the hall into the kitchen. At this point, you can just release Beagle and flee, or wipe out the surviving convicts.
When you're ready, untie Beagle and meet him outside the Bison Steve.
He'll give you the info on Benny, but you can also decide to find Primm a new sheriff.
The three options for sheriff are: NCR martial law, Primm Slim, and Meyers, a convict who's crime was vigilantism when he was a sheriff.
NCR is a morally good option except that their tax rates will make Johnathan Nash charge you extra or buy items for less caps.
Reprogramming Primm Slim needs 30 Science or 3 Fission Batteries and 4 Conductors. Saves time, but it's a boring option.
Getting Meyers is a long process, but it will gain you a discount from the locals when shopping.
Note: Choosing Meyers is not an evil option. It's completely neutral.
Reprogramming Slim is simple enough.
Getting NCR aid involves traveling all the way to the Mojave Outpost, doing the commanding officer a favor or passing a +20 Barter check with Major Knight. The favor involves killing giant ants; it's no biggy.
Getting Meyers involves infiltrating NCRCF, getting the key in, talking with him, going to Mojave Outpost, and negotiating his pardon with 200 caps or 30 speech.
Getting into NCRCF is easy with a Powder Ganger uniform which you can get from the roaming convicts on the roads near Goodsprings or the door guard at the prison. If the Powder Gangers hate you, just kill the doorman to get a key in. If they don't hate you, you can bribe or speak your way in.
Keep your disguise on as you approach Meyers. You don't want a firefight to breakout. Once he agrees to help Primm, go to Major Knight in Mojave Outpost to arrange Meyer's NCR pardon.
After that trouble, quest complete once you speak with your new sheriff.
Before leaving Primm, follow the road in front of Bison Steve south. In the first small home to your right, you'll fine a star cap.
