The quest is started through Heck Gunderson in the Ultra-Luxe or Mortimer if you have evil karma or are a cannibal.

Heck will ask you to investigate his son's disappearance. Your quest marker will send you to Marjorie who will then send you to Mortimer.

Depending on your karma, speech, or cannibal trait, you can trick Mortimer into giving you all the keys you need or agree to help him restore the White Glove Society's old trait.

You can:
1.Follow the investigator's lead and help ruin Mortimer's plans.
2.Agree to find Carlye to substitute for Ted Gunderson.
3.Sacrifice a human companion
4.Kill Ted and frame his father (goes well with Pheeble Will quest)
5.Rescue Ted and help his dad go homicidal.

I did option 1.

Just ask Mortimer for the Investigator's bedroom key. In the room, you'll be ambushed by 2 White Gloves so be ready to fight. When done, check the investigator's corpse to see he planned to meet an informant at 4pm in the Ultra-Luxe steam room.

In the steam room, Chauncey will tell about Mortimer in case you didn't know. Dialogue with Chauncey unlocks the opportunity to expose Mortimer and permanently cancel plans for cannibalism.

When you're done speaking, you'll get ambushed by an assassin with a crappy pistol. Just let companions thrash him.

Speak with Marjorie if you need some membership keys, (she'll give them if you have decent Strip reputation) or pickpocket or trick Mortimer to give you keys.

Head to the Gourmand and follow your quest marker to the basement and to Phillipe.

If you are on Mortimer's side, don't worry about him, but if you want to help Ted, he needs to be removed from the situation.

First, if you want to expose Mortimer, make sure to get Phillipe's human flesh imitation recipe. You can get it with either 55 barter or medicine (it's funner if you use Medicine).

Next, you can either kill him, trap him in his pantry, or, if you used the medicine check, he'll leave in mental anguish . To get him in the pantry, speech check him about a rad-roach and use the pantry terminal to lock him in.

With Phillipe gone,
If you want to get Ted out most easily, drug the wine near the stove with Med-X.
If you want to expose Mortimer, use Phillipe's recipe with 6 intelligence or 75 survival to make the fake human flesh pie.

At 7pm, get the head waiter to take the pie (if you could make it) or the wine.

Give the waiter a good head start and then go meet Ted.

Keeping out of sight of the waiter and the hall guard, sneak Ted to the members section of the Gourmand. Follow the waiter without him seeing you.

In the members section, you can flee through the left room or rushing the door if everyone is high off the wine.

If you plan to royally screw Mortimer, let him finish his speech and then rush to speak with him to let Marjorie know his betrayal.

With Ted free, speak with his father to finish the quest. Be careful about telling the truth to Heck Gunderson, you might take damage to your White Glove and Strip fame.
