Fallout | Part:2 | Shady Sands And The Radscorpion Caves
As we step into the bright world outside of our vault for the first time, we see... a giant map. Ok, not much to see yet, but it looks like there is a lot of area to explore. There may not be much in it (hard to tell at this point), but on our way to Vault 15 to find a replacement water chip, we stumble upon a little village.
Shady Sands doesn't have a whole lot going on, but they do have some problems. They get regularly assaulted by raiders (which we haven't seen yet) and they have some radscorpions holed up nearby injuring settlers and slaughtering brahmin. While asking people around town "What's up?" we learn a few things about the town. They are pretty bored, and don't have much to do besides some farming and agriculture. They aren't really trusting of strangers, probably due to the raider attacks, but let me do my thing. We learn that they were given a bad irrigation pump, but we don't seem to be able to do anything about it.
One thing we can do is help out with their radscorpion problem. The village elder asks us to talk to the town doctor to learn what we can about the radscorpions and Seth, the guard captain I suppose, will take us to the caves. Seth has been the one dealing with the problem until we got there, but the radscorpions always seem to come back. My guess is that he hasn't been able to get them all, and they are reproducing. We even manage to wrangle up a little help in Ian.
Ian was a caravan guard who got injured and has been holed up in Shady Sands recuperating. He seems ready to get back on the road, and joins up with us, as long as he gets his share of the loot. We are glad to have him along, as he manages to deal with the radscorpions adeptly (with our help). We give the tails to the town doctor who can turn them into poison antidotes for us, and then head off to Vault 15, in search of our water chip.
