I heard of a nice little indie game called False Skies, which released on Steam at the end of November 2022 with little to no fanfare (with only 18 user reviews at the time that this video was made). The game has about a 4-6 hour demo with saves transferring over to the full game (though you'll need to move save files from the demo folder to the full game folder), and I highly encourage taking advantage of that before picking up the game, as like Crystal Project, the demo contains more than enough content to determine if you'd like the full game or not.

It has a very interesting class progression system reminiscent of DnD multiclassing. As you progress further in the game, you gain the option to change into different tiers of classes, but keeping all the skills and stat gains from the levels you gained in the previous classes.

For example, my lead character had 25 levels in Generalist (an all-rounder class exclusive to the lead character), which gave him a variety of attack and buff skills. I could have promoted to a tier 2 class at level 10, but decided to stay in Generalist to pick up more skills before switching him over to Medic at level 25 to focus more on healing.

The game also differentiates between different damage types, and this matters quite a lot. As a more common example, attacks with bows and spears, for instance, won't trigger enemy melee counterattacks. Buffs and debuffs also seem to matter a lot too.

I really like the game so far. I'd say it's a nice middle ground between Crystal Project and Chained Echoes.
