Famicle Parodic 2 summary - 3 of 3
An excellent MSX2 shmup - by Bit2, 1989
Bit2 was a software developing company stemming from Matsushita (Panasonic), the latter of which at the time having a great deal in the production of MSX hardware, such as MSX machines, a MIDI interface and the renowned "Fm-Pac" sound/S-RAM module itself.
This game is an excellent MSX2 follow-up to their 1988 MSX game "Famicle Parodic".
With this title, they abandoned the 'Xeviousy' shooting/bombing approach in favor of a slightly more original take.
This new take truly made the gameplay stand out; the necessity of strategic use of the ´options´.
All player crafts would handle different shooting angles.
In this summary, I play with Mirocle´s PP Kerol-ship, which has the more ´standard´ firing modes.
- In this part: -
* Stage 6, "satsumaimo dius" - Fiery Gradius/Salamander stage, having the Moai statues replaced with 2 characters from Ghostbusters (Peter Venkman and Ray Stantz)
* Stage 7, "bit2maze" - Surreal, M.C. Escher-like mazeworld inhabited by dinosaurs and dragons. Seems to be some covert advertisement for other Bit2 products; even the final boss is the main evil of their "Kubikiri" adventure game
* Enddemo & staff scroll; since the staff scroll is extremely looong and slooow, I cut it down
