For some reason, despite constant negative feedback for this behavior, video game companies continue to reject fan made games. These fan games are often struck down for copyright violations, even if they are just passion projects that are free applications for anyone who wants them. The real reason this is happening is not actually because of copyright or because of legality, but is, in my opinion, done to avoid having to compete with the passion of the fans. I'm very tired of seeing it and more companies should be looking to someone like Sega to set an example with how they were able to bring on Sonic The Hedgehog superfan Christian Whitehead to help develop Sonic Mania after his work porting earlier entries in the franchise. Still, Nintendo continues to shoot down any fan attempt including Pokemon Uranium, No Mario's Sky, Zelda OOT 2D, Pokenet and more while other companies like WB are strict with Batman and Fox (now owned by Disney) recently took down a Simpsons Hit And Run Unreal Engine 4 Fan Game. You'd think these groups would all have better things to do... like man an actual game. #batman #gaming #simpsons
