Over time I've really been taking social media less seriously and seeing it for the mindless garbage that it really is. There's certainly good things about it with the ability to connect easier with those who have moved far away or make friends across the world and it can even be useful when there are those trapped in countries that need to have a way to communicate with the outside world. That said, social media generally just devolves into a weird echo chamber for everyone where they ignore or bully those they disagree with by getting their anonymous friends to gang up on people they will never meet. It's a breeding ground for self-righteous behavior and a constant need to one-up other people so that you can look like the best and most moral person in the room. It's just a big old waste of time that detracts from the lives of so many different people, myself included. #socialmedia #twitter #degeneratejay
