Far Cry 6 Is At Its Best When You Just Explore | My Fav Thing In... (Far Cry 6 Review)
The latest game in Ubisoft’s open-world FPS series, Far Cry 6, is out now. RPS’ senior staff writer Ed Thorn has been playing the game for review, so I wanted to get him on to chat to me about what this Far Cry brings to the table. Listen to our Far Cry 6 review chat over the top of this new Far Cry 6 gameplay to hear Ed talk about his favourite thing in the entire game.

As you can see in this Far Cry 6 PC gameplay, the island of Yara is absolutely gorgeous. As Ed mentions in our Far Cry 6 PC review chat, it’s full of beautiful jungles and majestic coastlines. There are some not so great things too, of course – Yara dictator Anton Castillo makes sure of that. But, regardless, it’s the exploration that Ed really enjoys.
And there’s a lot of island to explore. Far Cry 6 is huge! And, obviously, it’s full of side activities that can distract you from the main story. Ed actually prefers these little distractions, though. There’s just so much to dig into. In particular, as you’ll hear during our Far Cry 6 review chat, Ed loves the treasure hunts. They allow you to grapple around caves, move statues with a crystal skull, and you even get to befriend a pelican named Danilo.
Sort of connected to all that, you’ve got the criptograma chests. These especially play into Ed’s enjoyment of simply exploring this world, as they reward you for poking around areas that you may otherwise not visit. You can check all that out in our Far Cry 6 gameplay.
Overall, as Ed explains in our Far Cry 6 review chat, he just prefers taking this game at his own pace. He likes shooting everything that moves – can’t really avoid that in a Far Cry game – but going around Yara in his own time was what really clicked with him.
If you've enjoyed this Far Cry 6 PC gameplay and our Far Cry 6 PC review chat (if you're playing on console, just consider this a Far Cry 6 Xbox Series X review chat, or a Far Cry 6 PS5 review chat), then why not have a read of Ed's written Far Cry 6 review on RockPaperShotgun.com (https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/far-cry-6-review).
My Favourite Thing In... is a video series where Colm chats to one of the lovely RPS writers about their absolute favourite thing in a spang new video game they’ve been playing. In some cases, the writer will have to think long and hard about their choice, because the game they’ve been playing mightn’t be that great, while better games will have multiple things for them to pick.
