This is my preferred method of soul farming. It mainly relies on a +2 ascended Pyromancy Flame. That means it's upgraded to +15 with
Laurentius, the pyromancy NPC at Firelink Shrine, then you need to go to
Quelana of Izalith in the Blighttown swamp so she can upgrade it to at least a +2 Ascended Pyromancy Flame. It's a significant investment to upgrade it all that way, but it's necessary so you can 'one-shot' all the enemies in Tomb of the Giants.
Pyromancy has no stat requirements so you could conceivably start doing this quite early in the game, just after defeating pinwheel and managing to get the Pyromancy Flame upgraded enough. You would need to start with the master key to have early access to Blighttown and Quelana. Of course you'd be doing it in the dark. I opted for using the Sunlight Maggot which delayed me until after placing the Lord Vessel. I suppose you could use the 'Cast Light' spell instead. That way you would only have to defeat the Hydra so you could purchase the spell from Dusk of OOlacile. Maybe I'll try that my next play-through.
