Posture notes for leaders:
- Stand on your tip-toes. This is your upper body 'stacked'.
- Bend your hips and knees. This is the athletic stance.
- Your dance posture is a combination of the above two, though one leg will usually be straight on each 2nd beat as well. The straight leg creates the 'hip back' action for that side, which allows you to greater emphasize the step of the other leg, which is bent.
