Fast Five ran over Thor 3D in Australia -- See the numbers that have Kicked Universal into Box office overdrive!
Hey Guys, I'm Chelsea Cannell here with all the details on the race between Thor and Fast Five taking place over seas. While you'd think that Thor would have the upper hand, with it being in 3D and starring an Australian actor in Chris Hemsworth, it turns out that Fast Five took home the win at the Australian Box office! Both films premiered overseas to take advantage of the holiday and what will be a 6 day weekend in Australia thanks to 2 other holidays, but the plan only seemed to work out well for the universal fast franchise. Fast Five managed to drive in 2 million dollars, while Thor spun out of it's projected top spot after making $1.5.
Both films open in the states in the next few weeks, with 5 hitting theaters on April 29th and The god of Thunder making it's US debut on May 6th.
