Hollywood is gearing up for more gangsters -- stay tuned!
I'm Chelsea Cannell here with your clever movies update on the lstest casting rumors surrounding Warner brothers Gangster Squad! Since the project has been announced there has been talk that both Sean Penn and Ryan gosling had been offered roles in the crime drama that focuses on a squad going after a group of LA gangsters who ran the town back in the 50's and 60's. Now we are finding out that Penn is in talks to star as Mickey Cohen, a member of the mob who palled around with LA celebs back in the day-- while both Ryan Gosling and Joh Brolin are rumored to be circling the roles of two cops assigned to capture the mob man and keep east coast gangsters from infiltrating la la land.
The story will be pulled from a bunch of articles created by LA Times writer Paul Liberman and will be scripted by former LA cop Will Beall. Zombieland's Ruben Fleisher will be behind the camera when the picture goes into production this fall.
