Fatal Fury Wild Ambition! We're Finally Going 3D (PSX) - Retro Adventure Ep. 282
9A showcase for the Hyper Neo Geo 64! It was only a matter of time before we saw Fatal Fury in 3D lol. This was first released in the arcade, but Fatal Fury Wild Ambition also got ported to consoles. The story starts at the beginning again with Terry seeking Geese for revenge. All the characters are 3D, but the game still plays out mostly like a 2D fighter. You can sidestep instead of lane switch, and every character has supers and similar mechanics introduced thus far in the series. There's also new characters such as Toji, an old dude with a fan that does massive damage. There's also Tsugumi, a high school wrestler with a pretty complicated move set. It's pretty sick seeing this game in 3D, and the console port plays pretty well with some small downgrades to the stages from the arcade. We also unlocked the secret boss for fun. The Neo Geo 64 had a very small library of games so unfortunately we couldn't see more titles with this engine.
