F.E.A.R. is a silly acronym for the dullest office space/warehouse environments in a first-person shooter since the worst levels of Half-Life 1 and the least original horror tropes since Naomi Watts starred in the American remake of The Ring. The game's bullet time slowdown effect is still curiously satisfying, though, and the enemy AI holds up reasonably well with decent flanking abilities and grenade tactics. I always liked the second game better (which I replayed in its entirey two years ago), but F.E.A.R. remains an enjoyable FPS in 2018.
