FF Remix XIV Ultima's Transformation - Tactics The Nice Body
My first game featuring Ivalice was 'Tactics Advance' (which was next to 'Crystal Chronicles' the fist FF I ever played). Thanks to that, I grew quite fond of the battle-system and bought naturally 'Tactics A2 Grimoire of the Rift' when it came out.
Their origin, though, was not accessible for me thanks to living in Europe. (Albeit I am pretty sure my old Playstation would have seen the game in case there was a PAL-version.) Not owning these days a PSPortable or any iPhones etc. turns the remake 'War of Lions' also into a pearl I'll probably never can put into my shelf.
BUT at least there are wikias which let pitiful people read important information about games they never got to lay their hands on. And I must say, that the truly first game taking place in Ivalice is a dark one, yet in an excellent way. Years ago, it was impressing to read for the first time something about the Lucavi and their ruthless plan.
Thus, I'm really happy we players of 'Final Fantasy XIV' are blessed with a 24-people-raid which centers loosely around the story of 'Tactics'. And therefore I got myself finally up to create a remix for one of the old Tactics-games.
(Well, I am pretty sure I never made one so far... I know there was sometimes the idea for doing some kind of tribute in my head, but I never had the right motivation... Also, with joining FFXIV, there wasn't much reason to consider something like the Tactics-games...)
I only wonder, why Square Enix decided to give the track 'Ultima The Nice Body' already some room in the very first part of the 'Return To Ivalice'-story. It's the next-to-last boss-theme which was featured in 'Tactics', after all. Not, that the setting in 'Stormblood' would be too low; the finale fight in Rabanastre is surely a good one with these almost silly mechanics.
But thanks to this choice, I wonder, what SE will do to the final boss when they release it one day in the future. 'The Perfect Body' is the only song from the original game that's left – if they don't go with it, they would have to create an own piece.
Ah, and yes, I put some elements of the track 'Ultima' from FFXIV into the remix here.
