So, at some point during your game, you will want to become a Botanist, Leatherworker, Fisher, Carpenter, Weaver, Miner, etc. However, in FF 14, if you start a class as Conjurer ( or anything else ), by learning a new class/job, you will start at Level 1 Botanist and lose all your gears presently equipped.

BUT, you haven't lost anything, it's the mechanic in this game requires you to reset everything you are when you switch class. ( Or when you learn a new job/class )

To get back to your old Class ( or any class/job you may learn in the future ) all you have to do is to switch weapon and "voilà"!

The only downside of this mechanic is that you will have "a lot" of gear in your bag ... yup. That's why they give you an Armory Chest ( for your gears ) and bags for your items.
