FF14 New Player Tips for Sprouts

As a sprout for a few months there have been many things that I wished to know and access to that information has often been spotty so these are twelve things I wish I knew starting out to hopefully help you out too. These tips might not be for everyone but if there is another me out there that stumbles upon this and it helps them out in anyway then I feel justifed in just how absurdly long this actually took me to make.

00:00 Intro
00:24 - The Map can be really confusing with the hundreds of icons a brand new player will know nothing about and the in game tutorials do always do a very good job of teaching a player exactly how to navigate through it.
00:57 - Glamour is a really big thing for me and a lot of other players in bringing their character to life and gaining an attachment to them. There is nothing worse than being forced to look a certain way due stats that are required for your character. Thankfully though the Emperor's New items can solve the problem of unwanted necklaces or bracers.
02:43 - Side Quests should be saved for your alt jobs as the MSQ is a one time deal as are the blue unlock quests leaving your alt jobs feeling a little aimless.
03:34 - Your first mount is unlocked through the MSQ. I personally put the MSQ aside for a long time while doing other activities only to find myself far beyond the level that most would normally have attained their first mount.
04:01 - Gear can be organised on your character by hitting the recommend gear button and you can also update your gear sets by the update gear set button. The game doesn't do a great job of teaching your about these things. Job stones are also super important to pick up at level 30.
04:52 - Crafting jobs can be easily leveled up through Grand Company Supply hand ins, the seals earned through these can be use for Glamour Prisms. Win win.
05:31 - Marketboard is full of scammers that will try to pull the wool over the eyes of poor new Sprouts! Don't take the marketboard on face value as it can easily be a trap.
06:01 - Chat has some very helpful features, you can link your items, link quests that have spoiler filters and an autotranslate feature!
06:31 - UI Problems can be remedied by setting up your custom UI, very handy if you die to a debuff you never knew you had due to the default size and placement.
07:01 - Macros are fantastic, you can set it up so you can change your UI at the touch of a button or as a healer use mouse over macros to help you heal.
07:37 - Easy MGP for buying the items in the Gold Saucer is all I ever wanted and there are a few ways of doing it.
08:07 - Missable content as the name implies is super easy to miss. Some of the best quests I have done were things that I found by accident and my experience as a whole would have been so much less without having done them and so I urge you all to try Hildebrande, go through the Coils of Bahamut or join the Post Moogle service.
