In this episode I test the EVGA GTX 970 FTW Plus Edition using the FFXIV Heavensward Benchmark available here:

I upgraded from an ATI Radeon 5870 to this card which is a huge upgrade. I also replaced the CPU thermal material with Artic Silver 5 to ensure my CPU is still properly cooled.

Before I was getting 30 fps on 1080p standard on DirectX 9 at best. Now the GTX 970 does 85 fps on 1080p maximum on Directx 11!

My computer previously scored 2897 on 1920x1080 at maximum settings using the Directx 11 client. With this upgrade, it scored 10,118!

I still need to reconfigure OBS, shadowplay and decide how best I will record and live stream going forward given my CPU is unfortunately still too slow to handle 60 FPS on the fly recording/streaming. I will have to delay that until the next PC. I have also discovered a huge amount of tearing when playing the game so I will be picking up a GSYNC monitor once I get my next paycheque.
