Basic tips for Scholar:
》It's fine to use Physick during prog or panic moments but try to stay away from these abilties as White Mage/Astrologians have a better counterpart and is more efficient.
》Use Dissipation! If you know there's downtime coming up or the fight is ending you should use this ability to get an extra aetherflow use. Good spots for Dissipation in Sigmascape Savage include... After the first Demonic Headlights in O5, After Ink in O7 and before the 2nd Graven Image in O8.
》Learn to place your fairy. Placing your fairy is very important and undervalued skill. If you keep your fairy on follow you lose Embrace casts over the cast of the fight when the fairy has to move.
》Sacred Soil does not activate instantly. When using this try to place at least 3 seconds before the mechanic you're trying to mitigate actually goes off.
》Don't use Lucid Dreaming in your opener. This rule really only applies if you have a Bard or Machinist in your party and uses Refresh in their opener. Try to save it till the 1:00-1:30 mark as you will be capped on MP up until this point usually.
》Largesse does NOT affect healing abilities like Lustrate, Excogitation, or Indomitability. It only affects healing spells on the GCD.
》Always use Adloquiem on the tank pulling prepull. If he is a Warrior he should be in Defiance and if you have a Bard they should Minne them. Some fights have damage that goes out relatively quickly after the pull where Deployment Tactics would be a great use. Think O4S Almagest, O6S Demonic Howl, and O8S Fire III. It's good to note that if there's a part of the fight coming up where you'll need Deployment Tactics and it won't be up because you used it in the opener you should hold it.
》Use your fairy skills 2 GCDs before you actually need them. Fairy skills are can be very clunky at times which means if you need Fey Covenant for a certain mechanic and you wait till the very last second to cast it you risk not having it actually up for it. This was very prevalent in O4S during Almagest where Scholars would miss by a few seconds.
》Keep an eye on your fairy gauge. Fey Union is a very powerful skill - roughly healing for 8,000 HP every 3 seconds for up to 30 seconds. Thats an 80,000 HP regen over 30 seconds if you have a full fairy gauge. Try not to let this go to waste.
》Use your oGCD abilities before you resort to using your GCD abilities. I feel like this is one of the more important tips as Scholars are rather lackluster when it comes to GCD healing. Physick is only 400 potency and Adloquiem is 600 potency (300 heal/300 shield) compare that to a Roused Whispering Dawn a 1078p/21s, Excog 800 potency, or Lustrate 600 potency. Excog and Lustrate are on the off GCD and instant cast while Whispering Dawn is also on the off GCD however has a cast bar and comes from your fairy.
》Always keep your GCD rolling. If you're not casting a healing spell you should be casting a DPS spell. If you have to move you should be using Miasma 2 or Ruin 2. There should NEVER be any point in a fight where you aren't doing anything.
》Don't meld Direct Hit unless you are speed running. You only gain about 0.25% more damage by melding Direct Hit as opposed to just melding Determination. However you lose almost 3% when it comes to your healing abilities.

Advanced Scholar Tips:
》Learn to deploy off of Eos. There are many boss abilities in this game that do not affect Eos when they go off - Almagest, Demonic Howl, Diffractive Plasma, and Roar do not do damage to Eos. Learn to abuse this factor. In O4S you could Adlo the fairy and have the ASTs preshield then once the ASTs shields were broken you could deploy for an extra shield for the DoT ticks.
》Succor Deploy. This kind of piggybacks off the point made above. With the recent Succor buff in 4.1 Succor shields now shield for 150% of the amount of HP restored. There are some moments where doing a succor deploy goes miles. In O6S there are two back to back Demonic Howls, if you succor before the first one then deploy before the 2nd one goes off shielding both. Another place you can use this is when the Biblio spawns in O7S. The boss will do three back to back Diffractive Plasmas. Doing this trick you can mitigate two of them.
》Try not to overlap Rouse and Fey Union. Rouse does not affect Fey Union so when you use this and Rouse is up you're wasting that 40% healing buff. FINAL FANTASY XIV © 2010 - 2020 SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD. All Rights Reserved.
