FFXIV ARR New Players Guide to Pugilist Dps (1- 15)
49Hello everyone and today I'm here to help other new players on their way to punching out the various deities of FFXIV ARR. The pugilist is a class that excels in single target damage per second (Dps) and utilizes a myriad of positional skills to maximize their damage potential.
One of the big things aspiring pugilist / monks out there need to remember is to keep GL (Greased lightning) up. That is to say, don't lose the buff. Why? It gives 9% more damage and 5% attack speed per stack. Over the course of a long fight, it really adds up.
Sometimes though it won't be possible to keep GL up, like dodging boss aoes or when a boss becomes untargetable due to a phase shift or whatever the encounter entails.
Please note, I'm still a newish player myself. I may well be wrong on something, please let me know. The last thing I want is to learn bad habits that will hurt down the line. I want to maximize my damage however I can.
