FFXIV Dungeon Tips for New Players
Here are a few dungeon tips for new players in FFXIV. If you have any questions or feedback please let me know in the comments below!
Tanking
• Watch the cast bar of enemies (especially bosses) to figure out what attacks they are doing and react accordingly
• Talk to your healer and see if what speed they are comfortable with. Remember, you may want to go fast but if your healer can't keep up and you die, you lose more time over all. Slow and steady wins the race
• Many enemies in the game have cleave attacks. Turn enemies away from your party to protect them from it.
Healing:
• ABC - always be casting
○ Cast Lucid Dreaming when it is on cool down to keep up your MP
§ If there is no one need healing start doing damage
§ The more damage you do the sooner the enemy stops dealing damage.
§ Some bosses are designed to take into account the amount of DPS the healer does
DPS
• Remember your positional / read your skill!
○ Hopefully your tank will put the mobs into a position that allows you to easily get a flanking or rear hits in
○ In Boss fights, try to be aware of the mechanics. You may need to interact with objects in the room to stop the boss from doing their big attacks
