Now, I'm gonna be honest here. I am not a fan of Chopin. I really don't like his work, but when an entire RPG is made out of him, even I have to sit up and take notice. A story of a dream world inside the famous Polish pianist's mind, reflecting on both the last hours of his life as well as his famous compositions, that surely sounds fantastic.
And the music is a perfect reflection of just that. While some of Chopin's own pieces are used as well as rearranged in this RPG of light and dark elemental battles, the original compositions such as this battle theme are by Motoi Sakuraba, which quite frankly is very unusual for his standard fare. Normally he's a real rock-heavy master for battles such as in the Tales series, but here he really shines with a wonderful pianissimo ballet of a battle both stirring and soothing. Marvellous.
