FIFA and EA Split? How Did it Happen and What Now for the Future of the Franchise?
In life, there are many staples, peanut butter and jam, bread and a toaster, and in gaming, it's EA and FIFA. For nearly 30 years, EA and FIFA have worked together to release a FIFA game every year and made it one of the greatest and most successful sports game franchises of all time.
The big question is now what happens when these two parties and who benefits and what does the future hold for football games?
By now this is old news because we heard about this halfway into last year as the licensing agreement was going into it's final year both parties had announced that the agreement wasn't going to be extended beyond 2022 and now it's official.
As many of you may already know my thoughts i still only play FIFA because of my love of football but it's very much been a love hate relationship with this franchise ever since they fully put all their eggs into the arcade and microtransactions basket and neglecting gameplay. One thing i always love to note about FIFA like with other arcade microtransactions laden games is that IF YOU SPEND MORE TIME IN THE MENUS THAN ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME, THERES SOMETHING VERY VERY VERY WRONG WITH YOUR GAME MODEL.
And again this is never to criticize them for the decisions they made because at the end of the day companies will focus on the bottom line and with FIFA being the world's biggest money making franchise sales wise. It's just a shame when companies completely neglect the creativity and passion to fully go into the microtransactions model. *Cough cough UBISOFT.
But anyways, now it's fully official, and EA are going to be going with EA Sports FC from now on in a statement published on their website. And for those interested I have left the link to the article in the description below.

The biggest change to the game will be the loss of its FIFA title.
it would be the end of an era. The video game industry is ever-changing and one day instead of buying the 50th FIFA title we would instead be buying EA Sports FC.
