After much experience with the Hori pads and some time with the Mad Catz version 2 controller, I compared them in in this short video.

To summarise, the Hori pads are fantastic, the D Pad's could be better if they were circular rather than a cross shape. They do suffer with durability issues in the form that the D Pads eventually work themselves loose over time, they are still usable but you may get bad inputs. I prefer the Hori FC over the Hori FC4.

The Mad Catz pad whilst initially I thought was great, suffers with issues, the analogue stick is found to be in the way of the D Pad, D Pad positioning isnt the best and finally the triggers on the back should really be shoulder buttons as this is a fight pad.
