독트린 다크

아리카에서 제작한 대전 액션 게임 스트리트 파이터 EX 시리즈와 파이팅 EX 레이어의 등장인물. 성우는 타카기 와타루.

풀 네임은 Doctrine Dark, 게임상에서는 D. Dark로 표기된다.

본명은 "올가"이며 가일의 부하로써 특수 정찰 부대 소속으로 동료 모두에게 인정받은 우수한 특수 요원이었으나 가일이 베가를 응징하러 가느라 자리를 비운 사이에 부대원들이 국제 테러리스트인 롤렌토와 싸우다 패배하고, 이 때 전우들이 전부 요단강 익스프레스를 건너면서 성격이 맛이 가 버렸다.

전우들이 몰살당한 사건에서 자신이 유일하게 살아남았다는 사실이 트라우마가 되어 정신분열증이 생겨나 임무에 지장을 초래하고 일상생활도 제대로 해내지 못하는 상황에 처하자 주변인들의 신고로 정신병원에 감금된다. 정신병원에 감금된 뒤에도 롤렌토에 대한 복수의 의지를 불태우다가 탈출에 성공, 동료들의 복수를 하고자 이곳저곳을 들쑤시고 다니기 시작한다. 그 후 과거 자신의 동료들이 몰살당한 근본적인 이유는 찰리 내쉬의 복수에 눈이 멀어 부대원들의 훈련에 소홀했던 자신의 상관, 가일이라는 결론을 내리고 그에게 복수를 하려 한다.

모탈 컴뱃의 스콜피온을 오마주한 캐릭터라는 이야기가 있으며 대부분의 팬들 사이에서는 스콜피온 오마주 캐릭터라는 설이 거의 기정사실로 받아들여지고 있다. 몇가지 예를 들어보자면...

•Get over here! 라는 모탈컴뱃의 전통의 명대사로 유명한 줄 비슷한 도구를 이용해 상대방을 자신의 앞까지 끌고 오는 기술이 있으며

•얼굴에 장착한 방독면 마스크는 스콜피온이 입에 부착한 마스크 모양과 비슷하고

•복장 색깔 중에 스콜피온의 도복 색깔인 황색이 존재한다.

다만 황색 복장의 경우 스트리트 파이터 EX에서 독트린 다크를 킥 버튼으로 선택했을 때만 볼 수 있으며 이후 시리즈에서는 두 번 다시 황색 복장을 입고 나오지 않는다.

와이어, 시한폭탄, 나이프 등 별별 흉기를 다 동원하여 싸우는 캐릭터로 맛이 확 가버린 눈빛이 일품이다. 의외로 이런 광기가 철철 넘치는 스타일의 캐릭터가 당시로선 드물어서 일부 팬들 사이에서 컬트적인 인기를 누렸다. 개발사인 아리카에서도 이런 광기 넘치는 캐릭터가 마음에 들었는지 이후 자사의 또 다른 대전격투게임 파이팅 레이어에서 "재니스 루치아니"라는 광기 넘치는 여성 캐릭터를 다시 한 번 선보인다. 다만 파이팅 레이어에서 등장하는 캐릭터는 트라우마나 정신분열증 같은 설정 따위는 없는 그저 사람 죽이고 싶어서 안달 난 미친 캐릭터라는 것이 다른 점.

해외 수출판에서 기본 잡기 모션이 변경된 캐릭터로 일본 내수판에서는 P 버튼으로 잡기 성공 시 칼로 상대방의 목을 따버리는 모션으로 공격하지만 이 모션이 심의에 걸렸는지 수출판에서는 해당 잡기 모션이 류의 기본잡기 중의 하나인 안어울리게 배대뒤치기를 쓰는데 이것은 스파 EX 1편 한정이고, 이후 목에다가 폭발을 일으켜 상대를 공격하는 모션으로 변경된다.

파이팅 EX 레이어에서는 작품 특성상 롤렌토나 가일에 대해서는 언급되지 않고, 마음을 잃어버린 독트린 다크의 유일한 감정이 강함에 대한 집념이라고 한다. 강기에 사로잡혀 강한 자의 목숨을 갈구하여 어둠을 떠돌고 있으며, 가루다의 강자의 원념에 지배받고 있다는 설정.


Doctrine Dark

Doctrine Dark (ドクトリン・ダーク Dokutorin Dāku?), real name Holger (オルガー Orugā?)[1], also known as D. Dark, is a video game character from the Street Fighter EX series, first appearing in Street Fighter EX. He is a mentally scarred mercenary seeking revenge for his fallen comrades.


Personality

Due to his PTSD that reflects in his physical looks, he is quite serious and homicidal in battles and will not think beyond killing his opponent rather than simply defeat them. He has a single-minded desire to exact revenge on Rolento and Guile and does not seem to have any other desires beyond this.


Story

Doctrine Dark was once a brave soldier with an exceptional sense for battle. Dark once served under the orders of Guile with his own special tactical reconnaissance unit. During his tour of duty, his own unit got into a bit of a scuffle with another rival unit, lead by Rolento. The minor scuffle escalated into a full-on battle, with both sides receiving heavy casualties. Doctrine Dark was the only member of his unit to escape. However, he was severely injured emotionally and physically. Outfitted with a portable breathing apparatus, he eventually escaped from the hospital and went into hiding, only to re-emerge as the deranged psychotic killer Doctrine Dark. Dark holds Guile responsible for the massacre of his unit. He blames Guile for not training him well, whom he accuses of being more concerned with chasing after M. Bison to avenge Charlie than with the safety of his own men. For these reasons, he seeks to kill Guile as a result.


Fighting style

Doctrine Dark appears to utilize a very violent fighting style reliant on his utilized and portable concealed weaponry; he uses such things like metallic garrote wires, retractable wrist mounted daggers similar to the katar, and timed bombs.


Trivia

◾Guile's Summer Vacation alternate costume in Ultra Street Fighter IV resembles Doctrine Dark.

◾His later appearances are similar to that of the character Garland Greene from the 1997 action movie Con Air, played by Steve Buscemi: Greene was infamous as a serial killer known in-story as "The Marietta Mangler", and was first depicted in a full-body restraint device with a respirator face mask due to his dangerous level as a convict.

◾Doctrine Dark's fighting style and dressing are similar to YuYu Hakusho character Karasu, as both are homicidal maniacs who use explosives and wear breathing masks.

◾His fighting stance is very similar to the Tekken character Lee Chaolan.

◾Doctrine Dark shows similarities to Mortal Kombat fame characters Scorpion, Kabal and Baraka.

◾Dark's moveset is somewhat similar to Scorpion's (being able to pull their opponents in with his wire, in a similar fashion to how Scorpion uses his spear) but in Dark's CGI rendered ending in Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha, it is revealed that his special unit's emblem is a scorpion.

◾Both Dark and Kabal are covered by a gas mask, Kabal was burnt alive and Dark was hit by Rolento in his chin, due to this he can't breathe. Unlike Dark, however, Kabal is seen unmasked in some official artworks.

◾The blades on Dark's arms are similar to Baraka's ones.

◾Assuming Ibuki actually worked for Rolento, it is possible that would also make her Doctrine Dark's enemy.
