https://www.patreon.com/ulillillia --- The exact same 3 battles repeating again and again, with the same bonuses, same battle entry conditions, same order of characters, same item drops, same everything aside from damage popups growing only because of strength increasing. Somehow, though this is the fourth main time in which I've had it happen in this session, the RNG seems to get stuck. I remember it happening with the captains, getting the same 4 battles in a row with the same damage popups, hit counts, etc. I don't know what the significance of it is, but this setup was unusually lucky because Firion quickly maxed his strength (it was behind a lot), and Maria was getting a lot of agility growth. I was in this area trying to get agility growth as much as possible so that evasion gets to the point where I'm effective invincible to physical attacks (I have been since about 16-40 for evasion). Ultimately, the stun spell that Gus was using leveled up and that threw off the RNG out of its loop.
This is because, with stun 8 instead of stun 7, magic defense is being checked against 8 times instead of 7, making it much more difficult to resist it. Evasion works in a very similar way. Much of what I'm dealing with has 4 attacks with 75% accuracy. Blind status cuts that 75% in half, to 37%. Curse status does not affect accuracy - it only cuts the attack and defense in half instead. Let's say the enemy doesn't have any status effects at all. For the first attack, does the 75% chance of making for a hit go through? Let's say it does. Now check the evasion. Let's say it's 16-40%. The chance to hit is based on the evasion, and with 100% accuracy. Basically, it's a 60% chance, fairly high, or so it may seem. Does the 60% chance hit? Let's say it does. That means 1 of the 16 evasion counts is lost but 15 still remain. Again, 60% chance, does it hit? Let's say it doesn't this time. That enemy's attack doesn't go through. That's one attack lost, but 3 still remain. Does the second attack hit, with the 75% accuracy? It doesn't? Well, that's just a straight out miss. What about the third attack? That one hits. So, now to check the 60% chance of going through the character's evasion. It hits? Minus one evasion count, 14 left. It gets through that evasion attempt as well? That's now 13 left. It fails this time. That's 3 attacks that haven't gotten through. One more remains. Does the 75% chance go through? It does! Now, check the evasion again. Does the 60% go through? Sure, so there's now 12 evasions left. It makes it through again so it's now down to 11. This time, it doesn't. The enemy is out of attacks so a "miss" will pop out. To the best of my knowledge, this is how the accuracy/evasion system works. With evasion at 0%, it's strictly the enemy's 75% accuracy that limits it, averaging 3 hits because one hit is likely to miss from the reduced accuracy, but with no character evasion, the character runs out of evasion attempts and all the remaining attacks go through. Damage appears to be based on "max(RNG(Attack, Attack*2)-Defense, 0)+Attack*Critical", this repeated once per attack that makes it through its own accuracy and the target's evasion. With curse status on the source, attack is halved. With curse status on the target, defense is halved. Max is a function that returns the larger of the 2 values, enforcing a minimum of 0 damage for the hit. Potential damage is anywhere from that of the attack stat to double that of the attack stat. Critical hits override defense but it's based solely on that of the attack stat without randomization but is still cut in half with curse status active.
The first roughly 17 minutes of this video is all the same. The last bit of it is close to when the stun spell levels up and breaks the loop because of it. I show the stats I have for the major 3 characters (the 4th one is always temporary and is not a focus point for me - Mindu only has 8 evasions instead of 16).
