Final Fantasy 3 - Flying the Enterprise remix - "The Call of Heaven"

This track was created for a Final Fantasy 3 album project on OverClocked ReMiX which sadly came to an end. I’m a big fan of the Final Fantasy series and thought I could do something nice with the flying theme. It took a while before I discovered the Nintendo DS version, and found out that the soundtrack was already more or less what I had in mind. I was at a loss what I wanted to do with it until I started messing around with a patch in Impact SoundWorks’ Celestia. That airy (dare I say celestial?) arp that is the backbone of the track quickly inspired me into a new direction, which was only sped up by a vocal library which I just obtained and handles the nice airy vocals. Essentially the inspiration from these new samples and instruments more or less created the song in a very natural and organic way, with one idea quickly leading to another.
Because the original song is very short (just 28 seconds!) I thought it’d be hard to create a full song out of it, but a sneaky FF prelude reference, playing the melody in half time and adding a nice ’n calm piano & strings breakdown quickly brought the song up to a good length. Very happy with this soothing new age like track (a first for me) with an interesting arrangement, hope you enjoy it!
