You can do this trick on the NES, PS1 and this version of the game. They caught on to it later, so it doesn't work on the GBA, PSP or later versions.

The EXP for the weapons are tied directly to issuing the Attack Command in the aforementioned versions this works on. For that reason, once you "set" the command on a character, the EXP is also given at that very moment. Therefore, if you cancel the command and do it again, they'll get even more weapon EXP. Keep doing this until you max the weapon levels out (it may take a WHILE for that.) The only downside is that on these versions, using the Attack Command too much in battle, without as much magic spells to back it up, causes your Wisdom to decrease at times, so you'll have to bring it back up later.
