This is video #079 in my playthrough of Final Fantasy IV for the PC. This is episode 39 of the second playthrough. I am playing on Hard mode.

Previously, the party defeated the superbosses, Geryon and Proto-Babil. Now, they will farm for tails so they can acquire Adamant Armor and Onion gear. At this point, this is mainly for the Steam achievements. All tails are ultra-rare drops.

Lunar Subterrane:

The party resumes in the save room on floor B7 in the Lunar Subterrane. They head upstairs through floor B6 to floor B5.

The party enters the southeast room on the lowest level of floor B5. There, they can use Sirens to encounter Flan Princesses. This encounter is annoying because the Flan Princesses will inflict the party with Berserk.

Fortunately, Cecil will be immune if he is wearing the Crystal Armor. He has himself up to tank again.

After a fight, Cecil learns the Gil Farmer ability and equips it. Might as well earn more gil while doing this. Edge equips the Treasure Hunter ability.

After a few encounters, the party scores a Pink Tail (time 7:00). Marvelous!

The party Teleports out of the Lunar Subterrane.

Lunar Surface (time 7:39):

The party heads through the Lunar Tunnel - East and Lunar Tunnel - West to the Lunar Whale. Aboard the ship, they rest. Then, they take off for the Blue Planet.

Blue Planet Overworld (time 9:06):

The party lands near Mythril and uses the Hovercraft to go to the Adamant Isle Grotto.

Adamant Isle Grotto (time 10:00):

The party turns in the Pink Tail to the elder gnome. He rewards them with a suit of Adamant Armor! For obtaining Adamant Armor, the player earns the Steam achievement "To the End of Misery".

The Adamant Armor is excellent. It provides elemental resistance and high stat boosts. In fact, paired with a Curse Ring, it will provide elemental absorption! Good stuff.

The party heads outside.

Overworld (time 11:26):

Now, it is time to go after tails for the Onion gear. The party boards the Lunar Whale and flies to the Moon.

Lunar Surface (time 12:28):

The party heads to the Lair of the Father in the east.

Lair of the Father (time 13:08):

The party goes through floor B1 to B2. On B2, they can use Sirens to encounter Armored Fiends.

Eventually, an Armored Fiend drops a Black Tail (time 20:50). That is what the party needs, so they Teleport out.

Lunar Surface (time 21:19):

The party boards the Lunar Whale. They fly to the Hummingway Abode.

Hummingway Abode (time 21:59):

The party stocks up on more Sirens. Then, they head back out.

Lunar Surface (time 22:15):

Aboard the Lunar Whale, the party positions the ship near the start of the Lunar Tunnel - West. Then, they take off for the Blue Planet again.

Blue Planet Overworld (time 22:38):

The party returns to the Adamant Isle Grotto.

Adamant Isle Grotto (time 23:14):

The party turns in the Black Tail. Their reward: a suit of Onion Armor. Not bad.

Overworld (time 24:10):

The party flies the Lunar Whale to the Mysidia area so they can pick up the Enterprise. They fly the Enterprise to the Underworld.

Underworld (time 25:44):

The party lands near Kokkol's Forge in the southeast corner of the Underworld. There, they use Sirens to encounter Yellow Dragons. Yellow Dragons can drop Silver Apples, which are naturally very useful. They can also drop Sirens.

Eventually, the party receives the ultra-rare drop, a Yellow Tail (time 41:30). That is what they need, so they take the Enterprise back to the Overworld.

Overworld (time 42:14):

The party lands at Mythril and takes the Hovercraft to the Adamant Isle Grotto.

Adamant Isle Grotto (time 42:53):

The party turns in the Yellow Tail. Their reward is a pair of Onion Gloves.

Overworld (time 43:41):

The party flies back to the Underworld.

Underworld (time 44:19):

The party goes to the Dwarven Base.

Dwarven Base (time 44:39):

The party uses the healing pot to recover. Then, they go back outside.

Underworld (time 44:53):

The party saves. Next time, they will finish gathering the Onion gear. Then, they will start gathering the hidden monster summons for Rydia.
