Final Fantasy IV | Part 6: Venture into the Underworld
Product provided in this video by Square-Enix. This is part of my purpose to playthrough all six of these.
So Golbez has the crystals but he doesn't have all of them. There are also the Dark Crystals. Here's a question: how do we find them? Simple. We need to use the Magma Key to open the way to a mountain. The mountain blows up and we go underground. Sadly though it means that Golbez has already gotten a head start.
They learn from Giott, King of Dwarven Castle that Golbez has gotten two of the four Dark Crystals. The third crystal is situated within the castle. They head for it only to encounter a group of dolls named Calco and Brina. They aren't threatening now but eventually it's remnants combine into a form known as Calcobrina. Calcobrina isn't a hard foe. Just use your best attacks and it goes down.
Eventually you will face off against Golbez and he wastes no time. He uses the Shadow Dragon to take some of your party down but just as he finishes off Cecil, the Mist Dragon shows up and wipes it away. Rydia comes with the clutch. Use this time to get everyone back up and then go on the offensive against Golbez. He'll go down eventually but it seems he refuses to give up. His decapitated arm to take the dark crystal. Only one remains and it's at the Sealed Cavern.
But Cecil suggests that they head for the Tower of Babel to recover the other crystals. King Giott agrees with the idea as they use their armies to buy the time needed for Cecil to get in and get it done. The Tower of Babil is a multi-floor dungeon filled with tough threats. Eventually you will encounter Rubicante (who you fight later) and Dr. Lugae. Dr. Lugae seeing the intruders faces them. He comes in with his robot. Take out the robot first as this will force Lugae to control the bot. He becomes Barnabas-Z. Just focus on offensive attacks and magic and he will go down. Sadly he will use Self-Destruct to destroy a party member. Suddenly he becomes a monster. Focus on reviving your fallen member, heal up then go on the attack. That's all there is. Just watch out for his Poison Gas and Sleeping Gas.
Head on downward to stop the turrets only for the mooks to destroy the controls. This forces Yang to find a means to stop it only for things to explode. This also cements his death. Sad as it is but we got to press on. Leave the Tower and what follows is Cid coming in to save the gang. But Golbez's forces are on the chase. This forces them to make a daring escape and for Cid to make a daring sacrifice. Using a bomb, he detonates it destroying the airship but also sealing off the way to the underworld.
So what now? Guess we need to find another way in. We'll find it in Part 7.
