Final Fantasy Tactics Part 2 - Mandalia Plain: Rescuing Argarth
Now that my mission to play all the single-player numbered titles is complete, it's time to experience the clear favourite among the Final Fantasies that was not a part of the mainline numbered series. Time for Final Fantasy Tactics! ►Instagram/Twitter @dansg08 ►Playlist https: https://bit.ly/Dansg08FFT ► If you enjoy the content, get early access, special perks & support me to continue making content like this on Patreon: https://goo.gl/xvvDJD - If you'd rather stay on Youtube, you can also consider becoming a Channel Member for custom FF-themed Channel emojis and badges!
Released originally for the PS1 in 1997, Final Fantasy Tactics is a legendary game in its own right, even if it doesn't quite have the sales numbers and mainstream appeal of its bigger brothers who are part of the mainline numbered series of FF releases.
As the name would suggest, this game places a much greater importance on planning, strategy and tactics. If you don't learn the ways of the game and get to grips with its demanding tactical gameplay, you could have a hard time. But despite the steep learning curve, many fans have fallen in love with this game and its tactical approach, while also appreciating what I'm told is one of the most expertly presented stories in the entire franchise. Great story, great dialogue, challenging tactical gameplay and a strong standing in the Final Fantasy fandom. Sounds like a recipe for success, it's time for me to find out if it lives up to the hype.
I'll be approaching the game in my usual way, having deliberately steered clear of watching playthroughs/reviews/content about the game in hopes I one day get to experience it for myself. I'll be playing it the same way I play every FF for the first time - without guides, without outside help (unless I get totally stuck) and just enjoying it at my own pace in my own way - the good, the bad and the ugly. I play it as close to how I'd play it off-screen as possible, and it's what I've built my channel and content creation career around, so this experience will be no different. For experienced veterans of the game, try to remember how your first time was, especially if you also played it blind and just try to appreciate a newcomer's journey to understanding and enjoying the game. There will be many mistakes, moments of foolishness and frustration, but it's all part of the journey and I try to share it as authentically as I can, without glossing over it and trying to present a perfect experience.
For anyone who hasn't ever played or seen Tactics before, I hope you enjoy it and give it a run too in the future!
