"Chapter 1: War - Three Hours that Changed the World
Final Fantasy Type-0 starts off with a lengthy cut scene. This cut scene primarily follows one foot soldier and his Chocobo, both of which are gravely wounded.
When the mission starts, choose whether or not you’d like to view the tutorial. The next few combat sections are fairly easy as they are part of the tutorial. The best thing to do in this beginning mission is to practice switching between the three party members, Ace, Queen, and Nine.
Ace has throwing cards, making him more useful for long-ranged attacks, while Nine and Queen are more weapon-based. Make use of the targeting reticles and attack once the reticle turns RED or YELLOW. This will usually give you an Instant Kill or Armor Break.
After fighting through three areas, a giant ship-like creature will attack your party. Attacking won’t really affect it, so just dodge its attacks until it runs away.
Focus on dodging the ship's fireball attacks for several seconds. Stay mobile and evade when you see the ship fire a projectile. After a minute, the ship departs and you can continue up the stairs to open the doorway to the next area (don't forget the POTION on the upper right stairway)
On Tasuki Bridge, you’ll hear some of the first radio chatter from your classmates. Here you’ll also need to use ranged attacks to defeat the enemies.
Switch to Ace for attacking the soldiers on the upper ledge (and side ledges) and switch to Nine or Queen for the nearby soldiers. Clear them all out to enter the next area. SAVE your game and then take the stairway on the right to the next area.
As you enter the next area, you'll encounter soldiers perched on higher ground as well as soldiers on ground. Switch to Ace for the higher soldiers and then switch to Nine or Queen for melee soldiers.
Clear out the area and approach the Jamming device and interact with it to shut it down. From there, make your way to the other side to encounter a Mech boss!
MINI BOSS - SECOND LIEUTENANT ERNEST
The first mini-boss, Second Lieutenant Ernest, is in a small mech and has plenty of backup from his troops. He's a level 9 and has both armor and shields, so essentially you'll need to knock out three health bars.
Clear them out first, then take on the mech. If you prefer to use melee attacks with Queen or Nine, watch out for Ernest's ground stomp attack. Try to use Ace to stun the mech then land as much damage as you can. Once that’s done, get on the elevator to board the Imperial Flagship.
Instead of taking your enemies head on in this next section, run through the paths on the right or left on each bridge to flank your enemies.
Clear the two areas then you’ll be able to deactivate the jammer. Of course, it causes the whole ship to explode.
Fight your way out and a cut scene will reveal that magic is being restored. Still, there is another jammer in the area.
FOUNTAIN COURTYARD
A cut scene breaks to the enemy command who are frustrated with Rubrum’s ability to counter Milites’ attacks. The scene cuts to White Tiger I’Cie who revives some Nymurods before running off to the arena.
The battle against the two Nymurods is fairly easier if you switch to Nine. Use Nine's strong melee attacks to bring the hurt on the mechs. Defeat both mechs and enter the next area to trigger a boss battle!
Boss Fight: Dáinsleif - PART 1
After the cutscene, you'll gain control of the powerful Odin. His melee attacks can easily wipe out all soldiers, so take a swipe!
Clear out those pesky soldiers and then get in close to Dansleif."
