Previously, the party explored the Wind Shrine and defeated the Wing Raptor. The Wind Crystal had already broken, but they acquired their first set of jobs. Then, they visited Zok in Tule and acquired the Canal Key. Finally, they fleshed out their bestiary a little and picked up a few Blue Magic spells. Now, they will sail to the Torna Canal, the gateway to Walse.

I check the Bestiary before loading the game. For whatever reason, the Bestiary is only accessible from the loading menu.

World Map (time 1:11):

The party resumes on the World Map outside the Wind Shrine. While they check the map, they note that it shows the number of chests and items collected per location. Really helpful for maxing out their item collection.

The party boards their ship. They sail south along the coast of the isthmus between the Wind Shrine and Tycoon. When they find the Torna Canal, they go in.

Torna Canal (time 1:55):

The party examines the canal gate for a scene. After the scene, they sail through the gate. There are a couple of enemy types to encounter here: Octokraken and Sucker. They are easily missable. If anyone is using Black Magic, Suckers are weak to lightning-elemental attacks.

Lenna and Galuf reach Level 7.

The player earns the achievement "Apprentice Warrior" for defeating 100 monsters.

Galuf changes jobs to Black Mage and equips "!White Magic Lv. 1".

After the party sails through the narrowest part of the canal, a scene takes place. A sealed monster emerges and causes a whirlpool.

After the scene, it is boss time against the crabby Karlabos. Its Feeler attack deals damage and paralyzes the target for a turn. Its Tail Screw attack reduces a party member's HP to single digits. Cure the afflicted individual immediately. Karlabos is weak to lightning-elemental attacks, so a Black Mage can make short work of it with Thunder.

After the battle, a sequence of scenes takes place. Poor Syldra. Things are not looking good for our intrepid heroes.

Ship Graveyard (time 8:58):

Eventually, the party comes to. The ship has drifted to the Ship Graveyard, a nest of undead. We must ensure that the party does not become permanent residents.

The party gains control on the deck of Faris's ship. Galuf switches jobs back to White Mage. The party can go belowdecks and rest for free in the aft port cabin.

The party begins exploring the Ship Graveyard. The undead take damage from curative spells and items. Fire is also very effective against Skeletons.

Bartz reaches Thief Level 2 and masters !Scram. Formerly !Flee in other editions, !Scram allows the party to quickly flee most battles. The main exceptions are event battles and boss battles. Lenna reaches Blue Mage Level 2 and masters Learn. A non-Blue Mage can equip Learn to learn monsters' Blue Magic spells.

From the deck of the ship, the party goes east to a line of planks in the water. They follow it south to a rock. More rocks appear, and the party hops from rock to rock to find a chest with a Flail. This weapon is pretty decent right now for a White Mage. It deals full damage from the back row. Galuf equips it.

The party backtracks and continues east to another line of planks in the water. They go north along the planks to the aft section of the Sunken Shipwreck. They go through the door to a dusty cabin. Then, to the east, they go downstairs.

The party arrives belowdecks in the shipwreck. They go through the door in the middle of the southern wall to a small cabin. The chest within contains a Tent.

In the previous room, the party goes south through the eastern door. When they approach a submerged section, Faris causes a scene. What's this? Why is a pirate afraid to get wet? We'll soon see...

The party goes down into the water. They take the southeastern stairway to a lower level.

Bartz and Faris reach Level 8.

Down the ladder, they examine the crate with the skull and crossbones for 990 gil. They climb the western stairway.

Galuf reaches White Mage Level 2 and masters "!White Magic Lv. 2". Lenna and Galuf reach Level 8.

Lenna changes jobs to Black Mage and equips "!White Magic Lv. 1". Galuf changes jobs to White Mage and equips "!White Magic Lv. 2".

When the party comes to two doorways, they first take the northern doorway. In the next cabin, they descend into the water and open the chest for a Phoenix Down.

In the previous hallway, the party takes the door to the south. They continue down the next ladder and take the stairway down to the next area.

In the next hallway, the party opens a chest along the eastern wall for a Potion. Then, they go up the stairway to the north.
