Final Fantasy VII Remake: Chapter 04: Mad Dash
Chapter 4 started off rough. I'm not fond of vehicle combat sections in games. Having to both manage the bike and try to defeat enemies is stretching myself further than I prefer. The section wasn't difficult and I was able to finish it without dying, they're not my favorite game mechanic.
I met a new character, Roche. I don't recall him in the original, however, FF7 is always brimming with more characters than I can keep track of. Regardless, his acrobatics on his motorcycle is just too over-the-top. So we now have two characters that need to dial it back a bit, Barrett and now Roche.
One of my favorite moments in Chapter 4 was when Jessie, Biggs, Wedge, and Cloud BASE jump off the Plate. I thought it was funny that Wedge and Cloud were paired to tandem the BASE jump. Seeing the two extremes, a slim, quiet SOLDIER paired with a portly, dynamic, fighter.
I'm surprised at how much fun the game is to play. Sometimes games can be either fun to play or be story focused. FF7R, as of now, straddles both well. The cutscenes are just long enough to tell the story then get you back into controlling your character. Aside from the side-questing in Chapter 3, I don't feel as though my time has been entirely wasted. It's good.
