4Recap: Yuna makes a brief visit to Bevelle, where she meets up with Praetor Baralai, one of leaders of New Yevon. He acts cordial and friendly, telling Yuna he hopes she'll join their cause. Paine suggests they leave in a hurry.
The Gullwings land on Bikanel island, and Rikku begins confidently blazing a trail through the desert. However, the three end up lost, and are rescued just in time by the Al Bhed excavating the desert, bringing them to the base camp for the excavation project. A big sandstorm kicks up, so the Celsius is unable to get close. Forewoman Nhadala arrives and takes their papers, sending them out on their first dig. By the time they finish, the sandstorm has subsided and they're able to leave.
In Zanarkand, Yuna's personal memories of her journey are at odds with what has now become a gaudy tourist destination. A large group of sphere hunters are swarming the place, all looking to score some loot. She spots Isaaru, who now works as a tour guide in the ruins. Pacce is also there with his friends Taro and Hana, forming the Kinderguardians, doing their best to join the sphere hunt. Leblanc's goons are also around, and do their best to slow down the Gullwings.
They come upon Cid in the Chamber of the Fayth, who offers to sell them a clue. Yuna and Rikku call him out on how tacky all of this is, and he seems to take heed and leaves. Deeper in, Isaaru shows up again, and tries to spook the party as part of his job. They brush him off and press forward, finding a large fiend guarding the sphere they were seeking. They dispatch it and claim their prize, but it turns out to only be half a sphere - not useful on its own.
On return to the Celsius, Buddy picks up new sphere waves coming from an "awesome sphere" on Kilika island. They arrive right in the middle of a major confrontation between the Youth League and New Yevon. They catch a briefing by Meyvn Nooj, leading a protest against the temple to ask them to release the sphere to the public. The Gullwings sneak through the clashing groups, fight off the temple's guard machina, and claim the sphere for themselves. Rikku and Brother celebrate the victory back on the Celsius, but Yuna and Paine have some concerns that they may have just made enemies of both New Yevon and the Youth League.
