Final Fantasy XI Online (or "FFXI") was originally released in Japan in 2002 and a year or so later in the US and Europe, on PS2 and PC. It was later released on Xbox360, but now only the PC version remains active and supported.
I have never played this game, or any MMORPG before. However, eighteen years since it was first released, I'm finally giving it a go. This video documents the second half of my 14 day free trial.
This is a collection of highlights from my second week with the game, in which I complete my mission in Davoi, briefly try my hand at fishing, travel to Jeuno (on foot), spend an awful lot of time trying to get up a tower, collect three pieces of magicite, fight more birdmen than I would like, see a vision of the Shadow Lord, unlock two more Trusts, reach rank 5 and travel back home by airship. I also level up quite a lot.
This is where I end my journey. Although I activated a full month's subscription shortly after this, within a couple of days and reaching my first level cap, I was not enjoying the game and concluded it was not going to get any better. I'd rather end with this lovely video of the only joyful moment in the game. Thanks for watching.
