Final Fantasy XI Online (or "FFXI") was originally released in Japan in 2002 and a year or so later in the US and Europe, on PS2 and PC. It was later released on Xbox360, but now only the PC version remains active and supported.
I have never played this game, or any MMORPG before. However, eighteen years since it was first released, I'm finally giving it a go. I don't know what to expect or if I will play beyond my free subscription, but here is my eighth session with the game.
In this session, I complete the Save the Children mission and then attempt the Rescue Drill mission. Despite taking my time, slowly and carefully working my way through Ordelle's Cave, I am swamped and defeated by tough foes. I then realise I actually didn't need to go all the way into the cave anyway, because the knight was hiding near the entrance.
