We are now in the postgame. Previously, the party cruised the Cygillan Ocean in the Royal Vessel. They did the quest "A Second Sea God" and met the narwhal Bismarck, in whose wake Noctis fished up some more fish. Also, in the Keycatrich Ruins, they found the Founder King's Sigil accessory, which powers up Noctis's Armiger. Now, they will take on Omega, a recurring optional superboss in the ruins of Insomnia.
After resuming, Noctis first cooks up some strong Electon spells. To do this, he mixes in the Hunter's Medal, Ezma's reward for "Menace Beneath Lucis".
The party camps at Lepellith Haven overlooking the Prairie Outpost (time 2:44). Ignis prepares the Scientia-Style Sushi for its buffs: boosts to stats and guaranteed critical hits. Also, it is one of Noctis's favorite foods, so the tech bar will fill more quickly.
At the Prairie Outpost's caravan, the party travels to present-day Insomnia (time 4:31). They arrive at the LR Citadel Station lodgings in the middle of town.
A scene takes place due east of the lodgings (time 5:45). Omega appears. Gentiana warns the party away, but they will not take her advice. Omega will be docile until the party engages it.
The party begins the tough battle against Omega (time 6:43). It has extremely high defense. Only Noctis's Royal Arms will deal appreciable damage. Ignis's Overwhelm technique is pretty useful because it will allow the party to attack with impunity for a few seconds. It is least resistant to the lightning element, and high-powered Electon spells will deal fairly good damage.
Omega also has a range of insanely powerful attacks. My initial strategy is to target its antenna with a Royal Arm equipped. The Sword of the Father works well. When the antenna is broken, Omega will go berserk. It is more dangerous during this phase, and it temporarily becomes immune to Royal Arms, but it also becomes more vulnerable to normal weapons and lightning-elemental spells. The party should also try to damage its legs. Once all four legs have been broken, it will be vulnerable, and Noctis can do an Armiger Chain on its head. It will eventually recover from berserk mode. Then, Noctis can resume attacking its antenna with a Royal Arm. As Omega's HP drops, it will begin to warp and will start using nastier attacks.
Be prepared for a long slugfest. Bring plenty of curative items, especially Phoenix Downs, Hi-Elixirs, Megalixirs, and Mega Phoenixes.
Eventually, the party wears Omega down (time 52:23). Omega drops the Rare Metal accessory and the Omega Badge key item. The Rare Metal drastically lowers Noctis's max HP while increasing his Strength and Vitality by 500 each. The player earns the gold trophy "Through the Dimensional Rift" in the Royal Pack for defeating Omega. Fantastic. Gotta love the Final Fantasy victory fanfare.
At the LR Citadel Station lodgings, the party takes the elevator down to the Kingsglaive Base Camp (time 54:39).
At the Kingsglaive Base Camp, they talk to Talcott (time 54:57). He will be able to service the Regalia replica for the party.
At the lodgings in the Kingsglaive Base Camp, the party calls Umbra to return to the Prairie Outpost in past Lucis (time 55:25).
Next time, the party may work on maxing out Noctis's Fishing level.
Thanks for watching!
